I’m Simone Melancon, and it’s nice to meet you. I’m an educator with over twenty years of experience, having taught and worked in education in Massachusetts, Louisiana and now Washington state. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Skidmore College, and I have worked in the classroom teaching French, ELA and interdisciplinary studies at various times. I am fluent in French and I taught gifted students at a French immersion school in New Orleans, LA while I lived there. I’ve loved all of my time spent in the classroom over the years! Now that I’m at ISWA, I’m working as part of the Family Engagement Team as a School Truancy Liaison where I focus on student engagement in attendance. My husband and I met in New Orleans and a few years back we decided to move to Washington state to be closer to my family. We are very happy to have made the move to this beautiful place! In my free time, I enjoy volunteering, gardening and traveling.
